Does AutoPilot Pro update Joomla itself? No. It updates extensions. Use System → Update → Joomla for Joomla.
Is it safe to turn on auto-update for everything? For most sites, yes. Every update gets a snapshot before and checks after, and a failure is reported at once. If you want to be careful, start with a few extensions, turn on Require Approval for the important ones, set a delay of a few days, and look at the Dry run.
What happens when an update breaks my site? If a check after the update fails, the update is marked Verification failed, you get an email, and the Overview turns red with a Review and roll back button. If the administrator does not load at all, use Emergency recovery.
Why does AutoPilot not roll back automatically? A full rollback puts the extension's database tables back to the moment of the snapshot. Data stored since then would be lost. That is a decision for a person, with the row counts in front of them. A failed check can also have a cause that has nothing to do with the update, such as a short server outage.
Is a snapshot a full backup? No. It covers one extension: its files, its tables and its records in Joomla. Keep making full site backups.
Why is an extension "Not supported"? It has no update server that Joomla understands. Some extensions are updated through their developer's own installer, or not at all. AutoPilot cannot update those.
How does AutoPilot handle paid extensions? It uses the download key you entered for the extension under System → Update Sites, as Joomla does. If the key is missing or has expired, the result is Download refused (licence).
Do my rules apply when I click Update myself? Windows, delays and approvals do not. A manual update is your decision. Snapshots and verification checks still apply. A version pin does not block a manual update, but a warning is written to the log.
Can Free and Pro be installed together? No. Installing Pro takes over Free's data and removes Free. Free's installer refuses to install while Pro is present.
Does AutoPilot send data to anyone? It contacts the update servers of your extensions, to check for and download updates, as Joomla does. The verification checks and the folder test request pages of your own site. Nothing else is sent anywhere.
I manage several sites. How do I tell the emails apart? Every email carries the site name and domain in the subject, in the sender name and in its header.
Can I change how often AutoPilot checks for updates? Yes, under System → Scheduled Tasks. Open the task and change its interval.
