AutoPilot Pro updates the extensions of your Joomla site for you: components, modules, plugins, templates and so on, but not Joomla itself. It works inside Joomla and with Joomla's own parts: the update servers of your extensions, Joomla's installer and Joomla's Scheduled Tasks.
- You choose the extensions. Every extension has its own auto-update switch, and all switches start off.
- Joomla's scheduler does the work. One task looks for new versions every six hours. Another installs the updates that are due, every hour. Joomla starts these tasks when somebody visits the site, or on time when you set up a cron job.
- Your rules decide when. Groups, schedules, maintenance windows, a waiting time after a release, version pins and approvals say which update may be installed, and when.
- Every update has a safety net. Before the install, AutoPilot saves the extension's files and database tables in a snapshot. After it, it checks that the extension and the site still work. If something is wrong, it tells you, and you roll back in two clicks.
- Everything is recorded. Activity lists every update with its result, and an email tells you when an update failed or waits for your approval.
You find it under Components → AutoPilot Pro. It opens in its own full-screen interface, with its screens in the sidebar on the left and Back to admin at the top right to return to Joomla.
